Your Moisturizer And Acne Prone Skin: Finding The Balance
Of all the types of skin out there, combination skin can be the most frustrating to deal with. Especially when it comes to a moisturizer and acne prone skin. Why?
As anyone with combination skin will tell you, the moisturizer that's right for their dry cheek area can be way too much moisture for the oily "T" zone. Add on to that, that us combination folks tend to be acne prone and you've got a real challenge on your hands. But, guess what?
There are moisturizers on the market today that are combination skin acne treatments all rolled into one. These are day creams and night creams that when used regularly, will give your skin the balance it needs. And, by finding the balance, your skin will automatically be less likely to break out. What should you look for? Let's look at about some skin moisturizer supplements.
As we've talked about here before, two of the most beneficial vitamins for your skin are Vitamin E and Pro-Vitamin B5. Both of these vitamins travel down into the layers of your skin. They're both non-irritating and will help those pesky little break-outs to heal while they feed those baby skin cells. (Remember though, no picking at the pimples. Causes scarring, not good.)
Another fabulous ingredient in a combination skin moisturizer is shea butter. I hear you. Butter? Yep, shea butter is another one of those multi-purpose ingredients that heals and moisturizes without being greasy. Your skin will be velvety soft and smoother than you ever thought possible.
Now, while it's possible to use one moisturizer for day and night, it's usually more beneficial to have one formulated for day and one for the night. Why? Because as a general rule, day moisturizers tend to be lighter. Since you're out and about and usually exposed to the sun, they should have a sunscreen in them. A minimum of SPF 15 is the best. At night your skin is repairing itself while you rest, so the moisturizer is a little richer and no need for sunscreen. (Unless you're trying to get a moon tan.)
So now you know that finding a balance for your skin really is possible. A combination skin moisturizer and acne prone skin can live in harmony. And for you, it's a beautiful thing.
