In one 15 minute meeting I went from a six figure a year job to unemployment. Not only was my livelihood taken away from me. I felt like my identity had been stolen, too.

For years my entire identity was wrapped up in what I did, not who I was and it effected everything.

My kids suffered because I was never home. And because I worked almost non-stop, never taking a vacation except maybe to visit family for a few days, I got really sick and was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in 2005. Ouch…big, huge ouch.

What I’ve discovered after having lived through a lay-off, major health crisis and yep, even a bankruptcy is that there is really a way to have a wonderful, loving family life and a successful business without sacrificing one for the other (or yourself) in the process.
